North Bronx Collective

NBX

Planted in collaboration with the North Bronx Collective, a community group in the Bronx led by Black and Brown woman and non-binary people that was formed in March 2020. Through radical gardening, mutual aid, and educational programs, they work towards Land Back (a movement advocating for the return of land to Indigenous peoples) and the abolition of property. In August 2020 they began stewarding a strip of parkland called Tibbett’s Tail in the Bronx, turning it into a community garden. They were locked out of the garden by the city on March 27, 2021.

Growing together

We are starting medicinal plants for NBxC— the garden snapshot includes a rose plant- the symbol of The North Bronx Collective, seasonal strawberries, and verbena hastasana, an herb that helps us to sleep, feel calm and restful.
